Every journey is an exploration of the unknown. No less is a journey undertaken by the mind. In fact the journey undertaken by the mind perhaps involves far more unknowns than any physical journey.
Before setting out on a journey, we want to know;
1. The destination
2. The distance and time,
3. The cost,
4. The mode of tranportation,
5. The options in the routes available to get to the destination.
6. The alternate destinations available.
7. The risks involved and the hurdles along the way.
In other words, we want to know pretty much what we are walking into in advance of embarking on the journey.
Here are some attempted answers to the above questions;
1. The destination is MOKSHAM.
2. The Time and distance may be Infinitesimal or Infinite, depending on the effort put in. But the journey cannot be stopped once it is started and will never end till the goal is reached. It has been said that the effort requires many many lifetimes of evolution. This is why we are put through this experience of births, deaths and re-birth. Each cycle should give us a start from a higher level since the experience and learning from a prior birth are carried by the Atma into the next body that it migrates into.
3. No direct cost is attached to the effort. On the other hand, when a person embarks on the journey, worldly needs are entirely taken care off for self and family.
4. The MIND is the only mode of transportation.
5. Worldly destinations are available, but these have a direct cost attached. These destiations put you back at the starting point.
6. Karma Yoga, Gnana Yoga, Bhakthi Yoga are the alternate routes available to the destination. All these paths are interdependant and overlap to a significant extent.
7. The risk of a relapse to the worldly destinations accompanies one for most of the journey. Succumbing to these would result in having to go back to the starting point.
Description of the various paths to get there is the sole objective of the teachings of the Paramathma, The Paramathma's guidance is all meant to make us realize that there are different paths to enable us to attain MOKSHAM
