Slokam 7
Yashoda sees all the physical manifestation of all earthly objects as well as lands such as Rasatala, demons, men and Gods. So Yashoda sees not only the physical realm but also sees the structuring of the different worlds like Rasatala.
Srimad-Bhagavatam
SB Canto 2 There are also seven planetary systems downward, known as Atala, Vitala, Sutala, Talātala, Mahātala, Rasātala and Pātāla, gradually, one below the other.
SB 2.1.26, Translation and Purport:
Persons who have realized it have studied that the planets known as Pātāla constitute the bottoms of the feet of the universal Lord, and the heels and the toes are the Rasātala planets. The ankles are the Mahātala planets, and His shanks constitute the Talātala planets.
It is said in the slokam that the Paramathma reveals to Yashoda everything included in the universe, and emphasizes that there was nothing in the universe that was not revealed.
The entire universe being within the Paramathma, there is nothing that the Paramathma cannot reveal to anyone that He chooses to do so.
This slokam provides a very good insight as to what constitutes revelation. The Paramathma reveals His whole to us. In the modern world we are in a siloed state. Each of us specializes in acquiring one branch of knowledge. We are segregated by either profession, occupation, or pursuit of our own interest in one aspect of nature such as plants, flowers, mountains, oceans etc. True knowledge is packed into one instant that encompasses everything.
Kanchi Paramacharya was known as a Sarvajnani or one who knows everything. This knowledge is complete in every aspect. There is no need to delve into learning each branch of knowledge and spend years and years to assimilating each aspect down to the last detail. Knowledge acquired via the spiritual path is an endowment by the Paramathma and is not to be used for material gains or worldly objectives. The knowledge of the whole, as illustrated in this slokam, is a revelation by the Paramathma, that happens after we transcend our worldly bondings. So in attaining the endowment of the supreme knowledge, there is a lot of effort on our part to disengage ourselves from worldly relationships. Our effort is rewarded by the Paramathma by endowing the sarvajnanam.
In conventional knowledge, there are steps of rationality and memory, each entwined with the other. Rationalization is a sequence of cause and effect relationships. Effects follow a cause and become the cause for events that occur subsequently. So it is a time bound sequence of events in the past that become the cause of events in the future. So the sequencing of events is woven into a fabric of time. This time bound sequencing of cause and effects enables the mind to relate one event to the other and “understand” the consequences of our actions. Rationalization is meant to direct our efforts in the correct direction, towards attainment of eternity by exercising self control.
However, rationalization has taken on the turn in our minds to ask for “Physical” proof for the existence of the supreme and has become the foundation of the ego. What has happened is that this capability to relate cause and effect has been taken over by the ego. The ego or false identity has taken ownership of “rationalization” and uses this capability to twist and destroy everything except itself.
Whereas rationalization should become the primary tool for realization, the ego twists it around and makes it go round and round in an eternal never ending loop of cause and effect. The ego or false identity has the capability to take ownership and misuse all our inner capabilities. This misuse happens because the ego has the weapon of illusion at its disposal. So anything that comes into the purview of the ego is immediately shrouded by the fabric of illusion which is the primary weapon of the ego. What happens is that the mind (in which rationality manifests), takes on itself the role of supremacy. It feels that because it can arrange events experienced by the mind into a cause and effect sequence, it can take control of these events by manipulating the events. So rationality concludes that there is nothing in this universe that is superior to itself. Rationalization, becomes subservient to the ego and slowly begins to take charge of our lives. We begin to look for rewards for every little action. Our entire life becomes an exercise in self gratification, since anything like selflessness does not make any sense in terms of rationalization.
Working under the ego’s overbearing sense of superiority, rationality loses its direction, purpose and sense of reality and position in the grand scheme of things. It works to justify whatever is convenient to bolster the ego. If it does not, it will be rejected by the ego and it would lose its position of supremacy in the grand scheme of things.
Just as our consciousness begins its journey by using the senses as its instruments, the ego manifests by taking ownership of all our attributes. The ego makes us ignore the fact that we are only custodians of what the Paramathma has created and owns.
When He opens His mouth for Yashoda, the Paramathma takes out the illusion from the mind of His Mother and enables Her to see in one instant, all constituents of His Supreme Self.
Sarvajnyanan, or knowledge that resides in the consciousness, is not time bound, nor is it based on cause and effect relationships, nor does it have any conflict. It is a revelation of infinite magnitude. The revelation is pure knowledge of the self, which enables self sustenance without any dependance. It propels the self into eternity with no attachments, relationships, ownerships or conflicts.
Moksham is the direct result of this knowledge.
