Slokam 6
The Paramathma opens His mouth so Yashoda can look to see any signs of sand in the mouth of little Sri Krishna. She is absolutely amazed at what she sees. The little Paramathma shows her the entire earth and whole universe in His mouth. The Paramathma shows Yashoda that everything is within Himself. The message from the Paramathma to us is clearly that the entire universe and all of us are within Himself. The implication is clear. Anything that happens in this universe is under the control of only one, and that is the Paramathma. An even greater implication is that the universe that we perceive is within us. Unlike the Paramathma, we cannot control it, simply because we cannot control our mind and we do not live within our consciousness. We try to grapple with the forces that sway our minds. The whole objective is to make us turn inwards to discover what lies within. That is exactly what the Paramathma is trying to show His Mother and ourselves.
The ability to turn inwards for help faces an obstacle because we are not used to Mananam. Our ability to communicate is restricted to our ability to reach out to people that we perceive through the senses. Our ability to communicate is also through the five senses. But the communication with the inner self is not via the senses. The inner communication relates to not an exchange of ideas or experiences, but to enhancing knowledge of the self, and attain inner peace regardless of what transpires, externally. This inner communication is characterized by surrender, selflessness and acceptance. In this inner communication, we only have to listen. There is no need to push out our thoughts or to project our feelings. We just have to listen to our inner self through our minds. Listening to our inner self is the same as living in our consciousness, rather than in our mind. When we live in our consciousness, we no longer take ownership of our thoughts, the resulting actions and the fruits of the actions. All of these are automatically dedicated to the Paramathma. Our dominant Guna becomes Sattvic. We do not feel any inner turmoil or disturbances. We are then happy with what we have been given and do not seek anything more.
The Paramathma also says in the Bhagavath Gita that while we are all within Him, He is not within us. What the Paramathma is basically saying is that we have to recognize that we are within Him. He does not control us until we hand over the reins of control to Him, which is by surrender and acceptance of the supreme. This surrender and acceptance is complete when we turn inwards within ourselves.
May we ever be aware of the omnipresence of the Parmathma in everything that happens within us and external to us and surrender to the supreme our thought, action and fruits of the action.
