Slokam 10
The Paramathma does not allow the revelation to last more than momentarily. He raises His demands as a child to be fed by His Mother. The Paramathma actually does this to all of us all the time. We are exposed momentarily to the grandeur of this universe in very short spurts of wonder and captivation when we see a comet racing across the sky or an elephant trumpeting with his trunk raised in prayer or a bird busily building a nest with twigs collected from a nearby garden. In these bursts of wonder that we experience, we momentarily transcend our false identity. But we soon return to worldly needs and immediately our false ego covers our true self and blankets us in ignorance.
The glimpses of revelation enables us to realize that there is a state of existence beyond the identity and mind. The glimpses enables us to motivate us to work toward transcending the worldly attachments.
The Paramathma is providing short bursts of revelation all the time to us hoping that our mind will latch on to the objective of attainment of the higher state. When we need to build a home, but do not have the resources, we take a loan. The home is a need for which there is no alternative. Likewise for acquiring any consumer durable. The need for these ‘necessities’ are well recognized. No one can manage to run a family or carryon life without these ‘necessities’. The number of these ‘necessities’ are ever growing. They consume our entire working life and drain us of all energies and skews our life. We lose sight of the main objective of this existence. So to keep us on the right track, the Paramathma reminds us through these brief revelations of the ultimate objective of our existence.
May we, in all our observances, never be sidetracked from the primary objective of transcending our physical existence.
