Slokam 6
The Paramathma “learns” to walk. The Paramathma like all children, goes to the neighbouring houses and plays pranks that are natural to children. The Paramathma loved playing with the cows and calves, and pets like parrots and cats. The neighbours were hugely amused and laughed in amusement.
When we look at the scene from a sky high viewpoint, it is the Paramathma’s own Lila that causes the Cows and Calves, cats and parrots, to play, the neighbours to be amused at His actions, and He responding to and encouraging their amusement.
Ultimately it is the Paramathma who is the enabler, the doer and the experiencer. Recognizing that all manifestations are the infinite and innumerable representations of the Paramathma, enables us to grow out of any envious or confrontational attitude with our fellow beings. Recognizing the Paramathma in all life forms including worms, butterflies and trees and plants, birds and bees, helps us develop a great regard and respect for mother nature.
The ability to laugh is the ability to look at the lighter aspect of each situation and acts as the spoon of honey with which the bitter medicine of life becomes palatable. The meaning of the song “Adharam Maduram” comes to mind when we think of how the Paramathma spoon feeds everyone us with His play of life.
Infinite is the expanse of the tools that the Paramathma has provided to us to elevate us from the transient to the permanent.
There is very very little that we do by ourselves. Everything around us and within us is the work of the creator. We are given certain attributes, and along with it certain handicaps. The situations of life that we get into are entirely a reflection of the state of our inner self. These situations are created to ensure that we begin to understand our inner selves better and begin to make corrections. This process of self adjustment is the entire purpose of this life.
We are taken through life step by step. From crawling to walking to running to ultimately discard this transient body and transcend into eternity.
As we go through many lifetimes of learning, our intent within is purified. We learn to be selfless, to purify our intent and eliminate all attachments.
In this journey into eternity, we must be ever aware of the final objective. We will be transcended from step to higher step, only when we are able to clear the previous lower step by ourselves, with our “own” self sustaining motivation and purity of intent.
May we never, at any point in our journey, think of withdrawing or turning back.
