Slokam 6
Sage Garga completes the naming ceremony, by giving the Paramatha many other names as well. He also completes the naming ceremony of Sri Rama, and bestows other names on Him as well. Saga Garga explains the meaning of the names to Nandagopa, without revealing the identity of the Paramathma. He however explains that the child is endowed with superhuman powers.
Nandagopa is made aware by sage Garga that His child is not an ordinary one. The Paramathma is in the form of a child. So there is no one that believes that Poothana , Shakatasura and Trinavrata were actually defeated and destroyed by a child. The prayerful village is thankful to Sriman Narayana for having saved the little one.
Likewise, as we are exposed to the various dangers of life, and are rescued from disaster, we have to be thankful to the Paramathma within us, who is guiding our every move. Just as the residents of Gokula, could not perceive Puthana, Shakatasura and Trinavrata as demons, we cannot perceive our desires, needs, wants, and greed as demons. We succumb to them because, like Puthana, they come disguised as the source of beauty, comfort, pleasure and friendship. They may also appear like Shakatasura as everyday objects (such as vehicles that have road accidents) and like Trinavrata as natural disasters. We do not have the perspective capability to see the true identity of attributes within us, or the people, objects or natural phenomena around us. It is only when we surrender to the Paramathma within us that He will have a communication channel to guide us on the correct path.
In Gokulam, the Paramathma destroys the three demons, that manifest externally without anyone knowing about them. However, when it comes to demolishing the demons within us, He needs our cooperation and effort and request for help and our effort in fighting the enemies. The Paramathma clearly tells Uddhava in Srimad Bhagavatham that He will not come to His rescue unless that help is specifically requested.
That request is the outcome of the recognition that the problems are beyond our capability to solve. It is also the result of experience that problems can surface from any quarter and catch us off guard at any time. These two factors are the cause of all our anxieties and miseries. It is to induce us to request help that the obstacles of life are set beyond our capabilities.
When we request His help we are establishing a line of communication that should never be disrupted. That line of communication is usually established in times of distress by all of us. The challenge is to never shut it off in good times or indifferent times.
That line of communication may ever be kept open.
