Slokam 2
Vasudeva coveys his happiness over the birth of a son to the Paramathma. Vasudeva tells Nandagopa that he is as happy as though a son has been born to him.
It is indeed a great tribute to Vasudeva, for not only having handed over Sri Krishna to Nandagopa for safekeeping and upbringing, but also to hand over the legal parentage without any resevations. It is the ultimate sacrifice that a parent can make.
The entire reason why Vasudeva and Devaki were chosen to be the parents of the Paramathma, the embodiment of dharma, becomes clear.
Dharma is always born to minimize the spread and impact of adharma. So adharma always considers dharma to be its enemy #1. Adharma, being what it is, sees only the destruction of dharma as the path to its own sustenance. Dharma chooses to take birth in homes that can protect it from being destroyed. But dharma is universal and so parental ownership has to be given up.
Dharma belongs to everyone. After taking birth in one being, it must be transplanted, so that it can spread to all homes to destroy adharma.
Dharma and Adharma are the twin pillars of the mind/consciousness complex within us. The mind and consciousness are born in duality and opposites. As long as the mind rishes from one opposite to the other, a lot of wasteful energy is consumed and the state of existence is transient, turbulent and temporary. The challenge of life is to transcend the opposites of life and ascend to the sublime elevated conflict free state.
The Paramathma manifests on earth as the duality of Nara and Narayana. The duality of Balarama (Adhisesha) and Sri Krishna are the seventh and eighth children of Vasudeva and Devaki.
Nara and Narayana are not opposites. They complement each others strengths, abilitiesand attributes.
