Slokam 9
Yashoda is said to immensely enjoy drinking in the form of Sri Krishna through her eyes. We can well visualize the beautiful baby in blue hue and pink palms and soles of the feet trying to express himself through sounds and shakes of hands and legs.
Visualizing the pristine purity, the complete innocence and the prideful oversight of mother Yashoda clears our inner conflicts, doubts, fears and haunting memories of the past. Such is the power of the Paramathma.
What is so endearing about a baby is that its consciousness is completely untainted by any likes, dislikes or attachments.
Yashoda then feeds the Paramathma, and caresses Him affectionately with Her hands. Yashoda does not of course know the true identity of her child.
The Slokam says that Yashoda has “now won over all virtuous persons of great merit”. The Paramathma is transplanted to the humble home of a village head. He is to live among the most common of all people. Yet His involvement in life is to transform and reform the entire Human race and ensure it is devoid of adharma. There is not one King that does not come under the influence of the Paramathma, during His tenure on earth.
The Paramathma ever is the protector of virtue. In fact, as the creator of the universe, the Paramathma never encourages too much discussion on the mechanics of the creation of the universe. When Arjuna asks Him to explain how everything came into being, the Paramathma asks Him back as to what is the use of knowing all the detail? The Paramathma explains Physical manifestations simply as Maya. The Paramathma’s entire explanation of the value, purpose and motivational aspects of action to Arjuna, is centered around attributes of our inner self, and how these attributes should be aligned to enable us to attain the objectives of life.
It is therefore not important to know the physical aspects or spend our time trying to master them. Science tries its best to understand the physical forces of nature so that it can master and harness them for our physical wellbeing, including the extension of this mortal existence.
The teachings of the Paramathma to Arjuna is entirely focused on the attainment of “knowledge of the self”. The self is the only entity in this infinite universe of forms and names, that can ulitmmately evolve and merge with the eternity.
Does not every mother treat her child as the Paramathma incarnate? Is this not the correct assumption?
May we ever turn all our learnings and knowledge, including the physical and scientific realms, into knowledge of the self, and to throw light on our powers of consciousness, mind, intellect and the senses.
