Slokam 4
Kamsa by now is so overcome with fear and conspiracy theory, that he thinks that the female child is only a delusory trick of Narayana.
Kamsa seemingly realizes that he is to die at the hands of Sriman Narayana. However, he does not acknowledge that Sriman Narayana cannot be defeated. Kamsa is the representation of our ego.
Kamsa resorts to the vilest method of protecting himself by trying to kill Sriman Narayana, when He is still a new born. This is the lowest that one can descend to in order to protect one’s self at the dire cost of others.
Just as we think that we can, by our own effort, go over the ocean of life, Kamsa thinks that he can defeat and destroy Sriman Naranayana,
Within our inner selves we have the Kamsas and Ravanas always trying to establish their reign of supremacy to preempt the Paramathma from being born within and gaining control. This eternal battle is always very rough on our Jiva Atma, which is swayed and pulled in an infinite number of directions due to the conflict.
Both Ravana and Kamsa seem to instinctively realize that they cannot match the prowess of the Paramathma. So they resort to every trick to prevail over the Paramathma.
Just as Ravanna tries to spite Sri Rama, not by fighting him but by abducting his unprotected helpless wife, we think that we can avail ourselves of the endowment and rewards of the Paramathma without making the necessary sacrifices.
Kamsa comes to the jail grabs Yogamaya and tries to smash the baby to death against a rock.

Sri Krishna's Shakti Yogamaya manifests as Goddess Durga when Kamsha tries to kill Her:Sri Krishna takes birth in prison and Vasudeva exchanges Him with the daughter of Nanda Maharaj (Yogamaya). Kamsha tries to kill the girl child by dashing Her against a stone. The child Yogamaya slips from his hands, goes upwards in the sky and manifests as Goddess Durga with eight arms equipped with weapons. She was beautifully decorated with excellent garments, flower garlands and smeared with sandalwood. She was holding Dhanu (Bow), Shula (Trident), Ishu (Arrows), Carma (Shield) and Asi (Sword); and also Shankha (Conch), Chakra (Discus) and Gada (Club). Siddhas, Caranas, Gandharvas, Apsaras, Kinnaras and Uragas extolled Her. She tells Kamsha that the Godhead Who will kill him has been born in some other place; thereafter She disappears.
Ravanna and Kamsa know that they are battling the Paramathma, who is indestructible. Yet they like to believe that they are more powerful. Let us not ever think even for a moment that Kamsa and Ravanna are different from us. For almost everyone of us, Ahankara is the Kamsa and Ravanna within us. We have to become aware of the force within us that resists the Paramathma.
We have to rid ourselves of the Kamsa and Ravanna within us and ever remain devoted to the Paramathma.
