Slokam 10
Vasudeva is very particular that the religious naming rites for His Sons should be performed properly according to tradition. He requests his family priest by name Garga to visit Gokula, without disclosing who sent him, and suggest seemingly casually to Nandagopa that the naming rites be performed in accordance with tradition.
An overjoyed Nandagopa accords full honors to Garga, and requests that the naming ceremony be performed in completeness and with full festivity.
Garga explains to him that Kamsa is seeking to kill any child that he suspects to be the Paramathma incarnate. Nandagopa understand and agrees to perform all the rites in the security of His home, without any publicity or festivity. Garga agrees and the ceremony is performed in the quiet confines of Nandagopa’s home.
Nandagopa showers the best dakshina that he can on the brahmins. The Cowherds support all the auspicious performances with the intent of pleasing the brahmins.
Sri Bhattadri describes the Paramathma as the bestower auspicious gifts to all the three worlds.
If only we are able to clearly discern the infinite number of components and attributes that we comprised of, and place them at the feet of the Paramathma, without trying to take ownership of either the good or the bad, we will beset on the path to moksham.
May we ever acknowledge the Paramathma as the ultimate endower of our inner self, which is the source of manifestation of all that we perceive.
