Slokam 2
Slokam 2 continues with the description of the backdrop of the environment in which the Paramathma is born. All the quarters are said to be cooled by the rain. There is an overwhelming feeling that all good persons will have their desires fulfilled soon. The optimism and cheer is a forebearer to the human incarnation of Sri Krishna. At the stroke of midnight, when the guards are fast asleep, the Paramathma is born to Devaki and Vasudeva for the eradication of the distress of the three worlds.
The reference to the eradication of distress in the three worlds, suggests that the location of the three worlds, like all other phenomena resides in the consciousness only. It has no existence in a physical sense. The same unchanging environment appears as swarga, naraka etc to different people and to the same person at different times, depending on his spiritual maturity.
All the three worlds are said to be in distress, at the time that Sri Krishna is born. This situation is very similar to our invoking of the Paramathma only when we are in distress. Rarely, if ever, we invoke the Paramathma and celebrate with Him when things are going well. This seems to be an inevitable aspect of our life.
This is why our lives are designed with road blocks and suffering. If only we could ever remain steady and unshakably hold the Paramathma in our consciousness everyday, there would be no need to ever be in distress.
If we allow our consciousness to be pulled in different directions, we are sure to land in trouble. Life’s obstacles and troubles are set at such a high level relative to our capabilities, that we cannot ever solve or manage them on our own. Without the Paramathma’s help, there is no way that we can possibly overcome these obstacles.
Sri Krishna Paramatha clearly tells Arjuna in the Bhagavath Gita that if we try to take life on our own, we will be lost.
If we hold our consciousness steady on the Paramathma and hold His hand steadily, we will transcend the ocean of life with no problems.
