Slokam 9
The twins grow up under the tutillege of Vamiki. The distinguished sage is not only the author of the Ramayana, but also an enactor in the later and concluding part of the epic.
Lava and Kusa visit their fathers Palace and recite the magnificent composition of Valmiki in the sacrificial hall of the palace. Lava and Kusa grow up in very humble surroundings. Sage Valmiki requests Sri Rama to take the virtuous family back. However Sita is said to choose to return to Mother earth, from who she emerged and was adopted by king Janaka.
Sita Devi does not return to the palace. The blame is generally on Sri Rama. The real reason for the split in the dharmic family lies with the “common” people of Ayodhya who deemed Stia Devi to be unfit to be their queen.
Sri Rama is requested to return to Vaikunta by Yama. Sri Rama is said to have evaded a distracted Lakshmana and submerged himself in His favorite river Sarayu, and returns to the eternal Vaikunta.
The Paramathma takes many avatars only to guage the extent of evolution of the people and establish dharma among them. The manner in which the family and people of Ayodhya treated the Paramathma and His perfectly dharmic wife and children, shows up the true vile nature of the people and does not in anyway throw a good light on their character.
The Ramayana is a demonstration of the extent to which the Paramathma is willing to bend to elevate the Jivatma of His people.
It is only after many thousands of years of trials and suffering, that the temple for Sri Rama is being restored. Let us hope that the evil nature that we have inherited disappears after its restoration to glory.
