Slokam 1
King Satyavrata was anointed as Vaivaswatha Manu by the Paramathma. Vaivaswatha manu has a son named Nabhaga and Nabhaga’s son was Ambarisha.
Earth is described in the slokam as the world of the seven seas. Ambarisha is very spiritual and is constantly immersed in the Paramathnma and the devotees of the Paramathma. All the actions that Ambarisha performed were dedicated to the Paramathma. Pleased with the dedication of Ambarisha, the Paramathma bestows on him the protection of His Sudharshana Chakra, without any request by Ambarisha.
Dedicating our every action and every breath to the Paramathma is our ultimate sacrifice. Once we are able to do this, life will no longer be a threat or a danger to us. In the course of attaining this state of constant meditation, there will be many hurdles. These hurdles have to be accepted and overcome without shifting attention away from the Paramathma.
Establishment of this level of dedication within us requires the development of detachment, an well as bringing our Sattvic guna to the dominant state.
The kings of yesteryears were spiritually oriented. They were the ones that built most of the innumerable temples in India and Asia. The few that were built in modern times were at the initiative of the great sages such as Kanchi Mahaperiyava who were born in the last 200 years.
May we uphold the traditions established by the great sages, and overcome the pressures of modern life.
